Inspired: Tippi Hendren

In 1983, Tippi Hendren established the Shambala Preserve in California’s Mojave Desert, a wildlife sanctuary for lions and tigers. The lion below is named Togar. He was brought to the sanctuary but had never been around any other lions. He had to live with humans or be put down. His teeth were pulled before he was brought to the sanctuary. This family took him in and loved him and he never hurt anyone.

Inspired: Tippi Degre

Tippi Degree was born in Nambia, where her parents, both French photographers, were stationed for a work assignment. She grew up playing with the wild animals and spent most of her youth among the native tribes that her parents photographed. Many people believe that she had a deep and unique connection with animals as she was able to live and play among even the most viscous predators and remain unharmed. Here are some of the photographs her parents took:
